Get healthy, quit smoking, read more, learn a new language or a new skill… Whether you’re 18 or 80, chances are you’ve made at least one New Year’s Resolution in your life. And most likely, you haven’t kept it. According to the University of Scranton, while about 40% of Americans make New Year’s Resolutions, only 9% actually keep them. Ready to throw in the towel just 4 days into the new year? Don’t! This year can be different. Especially if one of your New Year’s resolutions is to get healthy.
Get Healthy – The Easy Way
Losing weight is hard. For many people, eating is tied to emotions. We go out to eat when we’re happy or celebrating something. When we’re sad, we “drown our sorrows” in a bowl (or pint) of ice cream. When we’re pressed for time, we fly through the nearest fast food restaurant just to get something in our mouths before we take on the next big “to do” on our list. After a wedding, we celebrate with food. Even funerals are typically followed by food – lots of food.
Even though we all know the vast majority of critical “do’s and don’ts” when it comes to what we should and should not eat, the emotional ties we have to food often far outweigh our ability to act on our knowledge.
That said, if you want to get healthy this year, the first thing you need to do is break the emotional ties you have to food. Thought Field Therapy (TFT) can help you do just that.
Get Healthy – The Natural Way
TFT uses the same pressure points used in acupuncture to communicate with the lower part of your brain; the part that has no words. It creates a buffer between your circumstances and your feelings about the circumstances—giving you full control over how you react to them.
If you are currently experiencing a strong urge to eat, I invite you to try TFT now. If you’re not, I encourage you to bookmark this page or print the instructions below so you have them next time you are.
To control your urge to eat, watch the video below and follow along, or simply follow the instructions below the video:
Step 1. Notice how strong the urge is, and rate it from 1-10. A 1 would be, no urge at all, you’re completely fine not eating. A 10 would be, completely unable to resist, the donut is already in your mouth.
Step 2. Using the index and middle finger on one hand, tap about 10 times:
1. Side of the other hand
2. Just under your nose
3. Under one of your eyes
4. Under your arm, about 4 inches below the armpit
5. Under your collarbone
Step 3. Tap the gamut spot (see the image above) and:
- Close eyes
- Open eyes
- Keep head level and look down and left with your eyes
- Keep head level and look down and right with your eyes
- Roll your eyes in a complete circle in one direction
- Roll your eyes in a complete circle in the other direction
- Hum a couple bars of any tune (yes, hum. I know this may seem strange but please, give it a chance. It’s helped thousands of people and now it can help you, if you give it a chance.)
- Count to five
- Hum again
Step 4. Rate the strength of the urge again. If it has gone down, even slightly, feel free to repeat the steps again. If it hasn’t changed, it doesn’t mean that Thought Field Therapy can’t help you, it just means that this particular tapping patter isn’t working for you. For most people trying to get healthy, the first step is to gain control of the urge to eat. Once you do that, it becomes easier to manage your calorie and sugar intake, your portion size, your in-between meal snacking, and all the other things that you need to do in order to fuel your body and get healthy.
