How To Relieve Insomnia Using TFT

I want to share a story with you:

Linda called me late one night asking for help. She told me she had not slept for 3 nights and was at a loss over what to do.

When I asked her what caused her sleeplessness, she explained that 3 nights earlier, her son had died in her home of an accidental drug overdose. He had gone out with friends and after coming home, he went directly to bed and fell asleep. As Linda was heading to bed, she checked on him and noticed that his breathing seemed off. So she stayed awake most of the night to check on him periodically. Then, after dozing off briefly, Linda woke up to find her son not breathing. She called 911 and administered CPR but, despite her efforts, her son never revived. Since that night, every time she closed her eyes to rest she found herself confronted with the vivid image of her son’s dead eyes looking at her as she gave him CPR.

Sleep deprivation was wreaking havoc on Linda, physically, emotionally, and mentally. She had tried everything, and nothing had worked. She had even tried drinking herself to sleep. This is a common method tried by people who are desperate for sleep. And in most cases, if you drink enough, it will cause you to fall asleep; however, if you sleep in an alcohol-induced slumber, you will not rest well. In this case, even large quantities of alcohol weren’t working. Occasionally, Linda would fall asleep only to awaken moments later with a sudden start and that image in her mind.

I suggested Thought Field Therapy and, in her desperation for anything that might work, Linda tapped as instructed without hesitation. After two rounds of tapping, I could hear her becoming sleepy. I asked her to close her eyes and tell me what she saw. “Nothing but blackness” was her relieved response. By the time I put the phone down, she was asleep.

Here are the facts:

  • 30-35% of adults experience brief symptoms of insomnia, like what I described in the story above.
  • 15-20% of adults have a short-term insomnia disorder, which lasts less than 3 months.
  • 10% of adults have a chronic insomnia disorder, which means they experience symptoms at least 3 times per week, for at least 3 months.

That means that more than half of adults experience some type of insomnia, at some point in their lives.

If you are one of the lucky few who has never experienced insomnia, it can be very hard to truly understand the effects, but chances are good that you know someone, and probably even care deeply for someone who has experienced the havoc that insomnia can wreak. Chronic insomnia can negatively impact your health, both physically and mentally. It can increase your risk of depression and high blood pressure and lower your overall quality of life.

Common symptoms of insomnia include:

  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty focusing or concentrating
  • Poor memory
  • Extreme mood swings
  • Low motivation
  • Lack of energy
  • Increased errors and accidents
  • Lowered performance and productivity

If you have experienced insomnia, you know how destructive it can be to normal life. Typically, insomnia is treated with sleeping pills. Unfortunately, the side effects of taking prescription sleeping pills can be extreme and include things like burning or tingling in the limbs, dizziness or loss of balance, daytime drowsiness, gas, headaches, heartburn, mental impairment the next day, problems with attention or memory, unusual dreams, etc.

Here’s the good news: there is another option! If you, like Linda, have tried everything you can think of to cure your insomnia, you may feel like there’s no hope. I know you must be so frustrated, but I am so glad you came across this blog. Remember Linda’s story. She was exactly where you are. She was distraught, frustrated, and exhausted. But she used Thought Field Therapy to relieve her insomnia, and she was finally able to experience the rest she so desperately needed..
